“…Yannatou is, in fact, a chameleon: playful, sexy and richly endowed with musical intelligence. She is an astonishing artist and I hope she sings for us again”

The Age, October 29, 2002

Having overwhelmed audiences worldwide (including appearances at WOMAD), Savina Yannatou and her ensemble, ‘Primavera en Salonico’, settled nicely into Australia’s world music lexicon in their Australian debut, presented by Exedra Entertainment in association with the Melbourne International Festival of the Arts, at the Melbourne Concert Hall on Sunday 27 October 2002.

Savina Yannatou has the voice of 1001 nightingales, with a repertoire as varied as her vocal range. She is known for her exquisite delivery of baroque, renaissance and other classic sounds – at times fusing it with modern jazz or free vocal improvisation.

Yannatou delivered a program that encompassed over 14 languages and dialects. She mesmerized and enchanted.

““… This was all without comparison, until ‘the’ divine surprise of the evening: Savina Yannatou, a rising star of song and of Greek identity. In her voice, fragile and strong at intervals, exist all the Odyssees, all the accents of modernity nourished by tradition…”
