The music of Mikis Theodorakis emanates from the soul of an artist driven by beauty. It is powerful, inspiring, unique. Theodorakis, perhaps best known for his score to “Zorba the Greek”, is a giant of 20th century music. His repertoire is as enormous as it is rich.
Theodorakis founded his Orchestra in Athens to perform his “popular works” - Zorba, the oratoris of Axion Esti, Canto General and his other instantly recognisable orchestral monikers.
The debut Australian tour celebrates Theodorakis: a musical and visual tribute to the man and his music; the honouring of a life devoted to fostering freedom, peace, beauty and spanning some 60 years. Theodorakis, the man will not be here but his Orchestra and music ensure that his gigantic spirit will.
Vocalists Dimitris Bassis and Kalliopi Vetta will accompany the Orchestra. Their rich indefatigable vocals complete a musical spectacle not to be missed.
